Pouring Rain + Florals? no.

When I saw this month's EBEW, I was super excited--because florals? They already have a huge presence in my closet. Plus, it's springtime. But what the heck, I was upset on Sunday when I wore this outfit, because it was pouring buckets. To prove it to you, Sarah and I star in a video.



These first two photos are of me being upset with Oregon. And I must say, it's honestly just un-motivating to get dressed when you know the weather is still crummy in MAY. And also a sidenote, yay! I've been featured in the Modcloth Tumblr AND (oh my goodness, I'm seriously freaking out right now) Dear Beatrice, which is one of my favorite blogs in the whole wide world.




Sunday, of course, was Mother's Day, so I wanted to look cute. I worked on some homework in the morning, went thrifting with Sarah and then surprised my lovely mother (she thought I worked, but I lied). I found her a nice skirt + shirt from Banana Republic. Maybe she'll let me post pictures at some point :)

Anyhow, I wore this dress because I know she likes it. Plus, it struck the perfect cord between dressy and casual. Plus, it was for EBEW florals. I killed three birds with one stone. Except that phrase is actually sort of sad. Because yes, it is efficient, but also mean to birds.





My awesome American Tourister bag that everyone who goes thrifting has seen/bought on at least one occasion. I never thought I would actually buy one, but it was five dollars, and I don't have a warm colored school bag.




I do not know why I always make this face/hand movement in my photos. Sarah pointed out that I often do. I look super squinty-eyed and asian. And for some reason, that's slightly amusing to me.

Seattle Photos

This is the last of the Seattle pictures :) Just random ones from the trip that I didn't post with my outfits because those posts were already picture heavy enough. They are arranged generally in chronological order, which was: from the road, on top of the Space Needle, Inside EMP (Experience Music Project), Olympic Sculpture Park, Pikes Place Market & then outside of the awards ceremony at the film festival.














I'm still sort of playing catch-up. Because I've been procrastinating bad. I went thrifting with Sarah today and had mild success. I promised thrifting pictures a week ago and failed at that, but they will come :) I don't know what's with me. I'm just utterly unmotivated--I think I'm just yearning for summer to be here. Especially since everyone on semester schedules are done (I'm on quarters).

Sorry for being so horrible with commenting back. My terms just now starting to get a bit busy.

All photos were taken by either me or Robert. Except the ones with both me and Robert in them. In those cases, it was a friend and Robert's dad. In case you cared at all.

Dinner Party. Or Film Festival.

I'm sorry I sound like a broken record! It's been Robert Robert Robert these past few posts. But he's sort of a big deal to me. So if that bugs you, just don't read anything. And just look at the nice pictures :)




My last outfit post from Seattle. When I heard that Robert and I were going up to Seattle for a film festival, I got excited just because of the idea of dressing up. Because seriously! I haven't been to a wedding or any other sort of thing that would require nice pretty clothes in a long, long time. And prom was forever ago!

Robert put up with me on Skype while I browsed through pages and pages of dresses--I basically ignored him and did that thing where you give one word answers. So just to be nice, so he would feel involved in some way, I sent him the Modcloth link and told him to tell me which dresses he thought I would like. I've got to admit though, I completely underestimated him, because he totally found this one. And I probably never would have clicked to it and saw the BACK if he hadn't linked me.



Because the back, my friends, is what made me fall in love with the rest of the dress. The color was nice, the collar was nice, but the cut out back made it perfect.




Surprise! Another picture heavy post. It's hard to pare down when Robert takes so many good pictures. Plus, I love this dress, so I want to show it off. I styled it really simply and with soft neutrals--because it doesn't need adornments. Felt sort of like a housewife getting ready for a dinner party at times, but I think that was because of the heels and the matchy-matchy nature of the outfit.

Seattle, day 2

I absolutely adore this set of pictures. I also loved wearing this outfit (it was breezy and casual, plus the shoes made me feel like a ballerina) and I loved this day too, so that helps. On Sunday, Robert and I rented the complimentary bikes from our hotel and rode along Seattle Waterfront through the Olympic Sculpture Park and then to Pike's Place Market.

I would definitely suggest visiting the sculpture park if you end up in Seattle somehow (I'll be posting pictures later). You get views of the water, the city and the railroad tracks. Plus, there are all of these silly, quirky little sculptures and installations. This glass wall was one of them. It cast this just gorgeous light all over the path and was perfect for my outfit photos, since a lot of the same colors were in my skirt.




Since we went biking, I wore these little lacy pajama shorts under my skirt. I did have to wear nude tights, but I didn't want to be flashing people either way.

Robert even played along and let me take some pictures of him. I meant to give him his own outfit post, but I suck at using the lens on his camera and most of them aren't focused right. Silly me.



He left back for school yesterday morning. We were best friends through the latter half of high school, confessed the night we graduated and then the summer after graduation, he left for school. This was the last time I'll have to say goodbye to him. For a while at least. Because he's done in seven weeks. Then, I'll be roadtrippin' down to SoCal with his parents for his graduation, and then he's coming back. Crazy, right? It's been three years of long-distance.

It's a bit surreal, really. I can still remember that first time he left I cried and cried. We stood on my porch for an hour and a half, pretending to be normal, dragging out the time until he'd really have to go. Since then, it's gotten a lot easier to say goodbye but it's remarkable how it still hurts a little even though we've done it countless times now. So I'm a little sad today--especially while looking at these pictures, since this weekend was so perfect and carefree.

Seattle, day 1

I'm back in the blogging world! :) Though I wasn't gone for long, going somewhere different for the weekend and removing myself entirely from my normal life makes it seem like I've been gone a long time. I meant to touch my homework... but I didn't. Should've seen that one coming. Now I'll be playing catch-up for the next two days. Oh well, it was perfectly worth it :)



We left early(ish) Saturday morning and basically just drove the 3.5 hours from Portland to Seattle without stopping. I don't know about you guys, but I love sitting in the passenger seat criss-cross apple sauce. It's more comfortable for me than sitting like a normal adult person. I just kicked off my shoes and this skirt was perfect for keeping my legs just warm enough.





We got to Seattle and the weather was just gorgeous, as you can tell. A bit nippy when the wind blew, but the sun was shining. And then, surprise! We figured out the film festival was taking place in Seattle Center and I got to see Frank Gehry's EMP (Experience Music Project). I'll discuss that a bit later when I post up my Seattle recap post.

Seattle Center is touristy and a bit over the top. But I loved this series of neat, rusting, paint chip lookin' steel panel things. They're right next to EMP--I'm not sure if they're Gehry's work, or were some later installation by an artist/sculptor.





I had a really good weekend but sort of wish Robert and I had been able to make it to more film screenings. It was hard to balance what we had actually gone there to do and exploring Seattle. But there will be other times :)

AH! I've got to play catch-up school wise. But also blog wise. I have at least 3 more posts out of this Seattle weekend (2 outfits, one recap/photo post). Plus, I need to check out all your blogs. Robert took these lovely photos. He's getting way way better, I think. These ones aren't dark and moody like his others. Hehe.

Weekend Away Guest Post: Kate

I have a series of guest posters lined up for my little weekend away. One of Robert's projects got into a film festival in Seattle, so that is where I am. All of the guest posters will be answering questions about a dreamy weekend trip. I'm cheating a little by posting this now, since it's Monday, but I definitely also need today to catch up from my weekend :)

If you could get away to anywhere fictional for a weekend, where would you go?

I had to think long and hard about this question! Its a toss up between Hogwarts and Neverland. Hard decision right? I know! I think I would say Never Land. I would just absolutely love to go there for a weekend and play with the lost boys.



Who (real or fictional) would you bring?

I would probably bring my celebrity crush, Matthew Gray Gubler, just because I know he would be so much fun to hang out with in Never Land. Second would be my Dad, because I just never ever get sick of him.




What would you do there?

What wouldn't I do there?! There would be indulgence is way too many cheeseburgers, lemonade stands, endless candy and water balloon fights. It would be the absolute time of my life!



What sort of music playlist would you need?

Ooooh, good question! When I 'fly' over to Never Land with Tink by my side, I would probably share my Ipod with her and we would jam to Vampire Weekend or Stars. The whole weekend would be filled with happy indie songs, the type that make you want to dance and never really stop.



& last but not least, what would you wear? (from an old outfit, or new, whichever you’d like)

I can never leave the house without my trusty leather jacket, and of course I would want to seem intimidating and bad ass to Captain Cook so I would wear a leather jacket, but still keep it feminine and sweet to catch the eye of peter pan with a girly dress. Oh man, can this become a reality, like tomorrow?!

Weekend Away Guest Post: Marisa Violeta

I have a series of guest posters lined up for my little weekend away. One of Robert's projects got into a film festival in Seattle, so that is where I am. All of the guest posters will be answering questions about a dreamy weekend trip.

My next guest poster is Marisa Violeta, of Green Grass & Black Clouds. She has adorable glasses and is super sweet. She is one of my favorites, so I was incredibly happy when she said she would guest post for me.

1. If you could get away to anywhere fictional for a weekend, where would you go?

I’d go to a village full of flowers and with a little river. In that place I’d have a house made of wood, with a fireplace, red carpets and green curtains. Next to my house I’d have an apple tree and yard bench so I can sit there, listen to the birds and drink tea.

2. Who (real or fictional) would you bring?

I’d bring Anna Karina and Brigitte Bardot so we could have a girly time.



3. What would you do there?

I’d do picnics next to the river, lay in the grass and look at the sky, listen to lovely songs in the yard while drinking apple and cinnamon tea, watch french movies in the sofa, read novels, cook cupcakes and not care about time.

4. What sort of music playlist would you need?

I’d listen to Beach House and The Smiths because without them my life ain’t complete. But Lykke Li, Mercury Rev, Beirut and Camera Obscura would be present too.



5. & lastly, what would you wear?

In that weekend I'd like to wear something simple and relaxed so I guess my vintage flowered blouse and my favorite black skirt from Zara would be the perfect choice to pick flowers and to enjoy life away from the city.
