Santa Barbara Marina

Hello ! I've gotten a little behind in posting again because of work and school and robert and guest posts to work on, so I'm dipping into photos from my recent trip down to California. These were all taken in Santa Barbara along with this post.

They were all taken by either me, or Robert.

Seattle Photos

This is the last of the Seattle pictures :) Just random ones from the trip that I didn't post with my outfits because those posts were already picture heavy enough. They are arranged generally in chronological order, which was: from the road, on top of the Space Needle, Inside EMP (Experience Music Project), Olympic Sculpture Park, Pikes Place Market & then outside of the awards ceremony at the film festival.

I'm still sort of playing catch-up. Because I've been procrastinating bad. I went thrifting with Sarah today and had mild success. I promised thrifting pictures a week ago and failed at that, but they will come :) I don't know what's with me. I'm just utterly unmotivated--I think I'm just yearning for summer to be here. Especially since everyone on semester schedules are done (I'm on quarters).

Sorry for being so horrible with commenting back. My terms just now starting to get a bit busy.

All photos were taken by either me or Robert. Except the ones with both me and Robert in them. In those cases, it was a friend and Robert's dad. In case you cared at all.

Hope you all have a lovely week :)

Time Goes By

I will start out by saying that I definitely won't be very active this week--as my lovely long distance boyfriend is in town. I shall be horrid at commenting around :)

I wore this outfit yesterday (Easter) so thought it might be nice to wear some pastel colors even though it was cold and rainy.

Robert has been in southern California studying cinematography, so it is somewhat interesting to see the difference in my photos. He is super super picky and we ended up taking pictures in about five different locations around my apartment building and university campus. The sun was going down too, so the images are a little cold. It was fun dealing with photos that already had a bit of tone and mood injected into them inherently. Personally, I can see the film influence.

I'm apparently challenging him by doing full body shots. ha!

I've been dying to wear these shorts. And have been waiting until it got nicer, so I could go without tights, but I decided I didn't care and tried to use black accents (in scarf and belt) to tie it all together.

(It bothers him that the tree grows from my shoulder, but that's okay)

Then, I took these :)

shorts: thrifted
shirt: J Crew
scarf: H&M
belt: thrifted
tights: Betsey Johnson
cardigan: Tracy M. via Marshalls
purse: Coach hand me down, from Robert's mom
shoes: thrifted
hairbow: F21

Virtu: Scheltens Abbenes

virtu \ vuhr-TOO; vir- \ , noun;
1. love of or taste for fine objects of art.
2. Productions of art (especially fine antiques).
3. Artistic quality.

This is a feature of mine--in which I showcase designers/artists/architects (though not limited to those) that have been influential to me in some way. I love discovering new artists, so if I can introduce just one person to something inspiring, that resonates, that's enough for me.

Scheltens Abbenes are a couple, and also collaborators. They are a photographer and visual artist who work together in order to create photos that are very abstract, textural and graphic--all out of very simple, unexpected items. Since it seems more relevant to my blog (though I suppose neither of my previous Virtu posts were much related) I've chosen to pull compositions of theirs that were created out of clothing items.

I am in absolute awe of the textures, color combinations and the nit-picky nature of their work. The simplicity and quality of the craft speak for the photos themselves. Everything is truly edited down to what is necessary.

I also adore their work with furniture as well as their collages/displays that they've created independent of one another. Their website is incredibly clean, functional and easy to peruse. And I would recommend that. Because if doing this feature has taught me anything, it's that it's incredibly hard to choose in order to represent an artist as a whole.

So please, Scheltens Abbenes. Click :)
