Vintage Children Book Illustrations

Lately, I've been rather obsessed with the illustrations from vintage children's books. Especially the ones that are two color print jobs--with slightly sketchy lines and bizarre, silly content. I stumbled across a pool of them on flickr and pulled ones that I liked/were amusing to me.

  1. These are so cool! I love children's book illustrations. That teapot page made me think of the book "I Can't," Said the Ant for some reason. Have you ever seen that one? It has all these bizarre and hilarious (I think) rhymes. My brother and sister and I used to crack up over the line that goes, "'Relax,' said the ax."

  3. The one with the dog and the baby is kind of disturbing, but I love the coloring and how they are illustrated.

  5. Great illustrations, I love these! Some old adverts have the same feel to them, especially pictures on boxes of matches - I love those. :)

  6. These are so neat! I really love the teapot one as I remember singing that song when I was little. The elephant is pretty awesome too, though!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave me a message. It means a lot, and I don't take it lightly. Each one makes me smile--though I won't just follow you simply if you follow me. So please don't ask.

By default, I take a look at every single person that comments.
