Rainy Day Thrifting

As I mentioned in my last post, it rained buckets on Friday. But it's my day off--so I basically try to shove a whole weekend into that day (since I work all through the weekend). So, even though it was pouring, I was not going to give up on the idea of thrifting. And good thing too, because I found some lovely things. Things I really really really love.

(This is a mannequin my coworker/roommate and I stole from work. It was fun/amusing carrying it home. We've been re-dressing it up every once in a while. And don't worry, it's totally legit--our manager doesn't care one bit that we took it)

1. White cropped sweater:

I've been looking for more of these, since they have the amazing ability to completely transform dresses into skirts. I adore the little detailing--from the little tiny holes to the slightly scalloped collar/cuffs. Such a perfect basic piece. $5.00 at Goodwill.

2. Acrylic / Mohair / Wool blend sweater thing:

I was looking for this exactly. I wanted a heavier sweater to act as a transition jacket once the weather starts to get nicer. It is so comfy. I can see myself wearing it with dresses, jeans, at home, belted or loose. The color is perfect, the fit is perfect & according to the tag, it was made in Italy? Yeah, whatever. $7.99 at Goodwill.

3. yellow/blue patterned top:

I suck at taking these sorts of pictures. I'll get better at some point! That's why you don't get a full photo. But I think that's okay, since the pattern is what's charming anyhow. And the little metal buttons. $5.00 at Goodwill.

4. white/leather belt:

I actually bought this one week ago, when I was thrifting with another of my friends, but it was thrifted and so belongs in this post. It'll be perfect for over flowy summer dresses. $2.00 at William Temple thrift store

And, I bought red lipstick. In real life, this one is a little too pink for my taste. I want a deeper red. What are your favorite, go-to lipsticks? I'm actually really really new to makeup. All through high school, I made a fuss and absolutely refused to wear it. But I'm slowly wanting to play a little, grow up a little. (HA. I haven't taken a photobooth picture in ages)

Lastly, I was awarded that Kreativ blogger award by Jane but am choosing not to do it, since I did a really similar meme about a week ago. But I am incredibly happy and thankful that she listed me.

  2. Oh man, that belt is the best. I scored myself some sweet belts, too, on my last thrifting trip. I also love the yellow top!

I live in Albany... totally the least-thrilling town in Oregon, I think. haha. I love visiting Portland, though! I have a few blogger buddies I'd like to meet in real life sometime, I'll have to add you to my list! :)

  6. Wow, you have great luck at thrifting! I have horrible luck, though I scored a really nice vintage dress recently. Probably my one and only successful thrift. I love the white sweater!

  8. Dude, Lea, that sweaterthing is AMAZING. So jealous. I can't wait to go thrifting with you this summer :D And I think we have similar skin tones? My lipstick go-tos are 1) nude/tan color 2) bright red and 3) darker wine. The first I use for day-to-day or elegant dinners, the second for whenever I feel like spicing an outfit up/to go out and the third when I want to feel sexy :P <3 I LOVE YOUUUUUUU. I'm really hyper. kbye.

  9. Great finds, Lea! I especially love the yellow patterned top.

The only make-up I enjoy putting on is lipstick, as there's less of a chance me messing it up. :) My favourites are Bourjois lipsticks and Manhattan lip creams, but I have no idea whether you have them in the US...

  11. I love the sweater/cardi that you found! And red lipstick is so hard for me to find. I think it's because I'm not a red personality. Does that make sense? I'm more of a hot pink gal. But MAC's Russian Red is a deep red. And there are some good Revlon shades too, if you don't want to spend $15 on lipstick.

  13. yayy I love to see thrifting finds. Love everything you got. I think that patterned yellow top is SO SO cute!! I want it. Also, yay for getting red lipstick! You probably know from looking at my blog that I'm the biggest red lipstick fan in the world. I actually never used lipSTICK though. I use Sephora brand lip liner. It comes on dull which I like. Since it doesn't have the wet shinyness that lipstick has, it stays on HARDCORE. It's my favorite. =) You look so pretty in red lipstick!

  18. What great finds! I especially love the mohair gray cardigan. Definitely a steal and will make a great transition piece. And I too am on the look for a great red lipstick color! Actually I'm just on the look out for more lipstick colors not just red. It makes me feel so grown-up using lipstick. =P.
